Your choice…

What is keeping me from getting A+ on all my three 2014 words of direction? What’s keeping you from achieving your goals?

Mostly it is the choices we make.  Here is some of those nasty decisions I often have to make…

  • Do I catch up on reading my 367 unread RSS entries, or write a new blog post?
  • Do I eat that huge piece of cake, or not?
  • Do I watch yet another rerun of yet another series/movie, or do I go for a walk?
  • Do I read a book and share the message, or do I  just put it back on the shelf when done?

Why are these choices not obvious… What most people would see as the ‘better’ choice, seem to take something from you – the passive, go-with-the-flow options in most cases is much easier… but in all cases provide short-term gratification.

When did I get so lazy? This is my first blog post in a long while, even after saying I would blog again on 2 Jan… I rest my case.

How about you? What choices do you need to confront? Do you manage to make the right choice? Please share your thoughts with me in the comments.

I need to make many changes in 2014. But like Steve Jobs once said… everything around us that we call life has been made up by people no smarter than we are. We can change and influence it. We can poke life as it were, and something will pop out on the other side. We can therefore mould it. We need to remember that life isn’t just there for us to live in. We need to try and make it much more than just that. We need to embrace life and change it. That is my mission for 2014. I am mindful that if I keep on doing what I have always done, I will always get what I have gotten in the past. I want to change that this year.

I really like your last sentences: ” I am mindful that if I keep on doing what I have always done, I will always get what I have gotten in the past. I want to change that this year.” If more people could realize that we don’t just live in the world, we are the world in which we live, and therefore we can, no we do shape the world we live in. I suppose our choice is whether the change is unintentional or deliberate…

Isn’t the situation you describe just a manifestation of the laws of Thermodynamics. Systems tend towards lowest energy (do not blog, do not walk, do not comment) and highest disorder
