Cropping to a shape in Powerpoint

Powerpoint 2010 seems to have some interesting new features (or alternatively they’ve been well-hidden from me in previous versions).  Today I want to introduce you to a basic principle – cropping a picture to a shape rather than the normal rectangle.
It’s quite simple.  Insert a picture, I chose one of a father and baby off Office clipart. Select it.

Then from the Picture Ribbon choose Crop – Crop to Shape – and choose the shape. I chose a heart

The result is quite nice as can be seen on top.

This does open up some rather nice options for one to play with conveying meaning and feeling through shapes.

Happy Powerpointing!

Dit is moontlik in Office 2007 ook, maar nie via die Crop command nie.

Dis deur Format > Picture Styles > Picture Shape.
